Chamaerops humilis ‘Compacta’ has a paler, silvery color on the underside of each leaf, creating a very decorative effect. Chamaerops humilis is a shrub-like clumping palm, with several stems growing from a single base. It is crowned by large, fine-textured, blue-green to silver-green, fan-shaped leaves. It is the most adaptable species of palms, surviving extreme heat as well as extreme cold. It also has exceptional wind, heat, and drought tolerance. It’s incredibly easy to care for. It likes a spot that gets some sun but is fine with shade for part of the day. Removing damaged and dead fronds may help improve the growth rate of this palm species.

Water Requirements Preferably twice a day in summer and once on alternate days in winter. The best way to water the plant is to dip a finger into the soil to feel if the soil is moist or not. If you still feel it is wet in winter, you can delay the watering for a few more days and give water. A regular check on the plant moisture is ideal for healthy growth.
